review: Pizza Projekt

A pizza can be a beautiful thing; in my eyes it’s the perfect example of how great ingredients cooked simply can result in something truly delicious. Having played around with my Dad’s portable wood fired pizza oven it is, however, quite clear that all pizzas are not made equal. So if you are buying some goodies in the Central Market, make sure to follow your nose to Pizza Projekt.

After a successful pop up last December, Pizza Projekt have taken over an old tea room in Market Lane to open a bijou temple to hand crafted pizza. Rustic interiors, free retro gaming and a welcome BYO policy create a relaxed atmosphere perfect for a speedy lunch, weeknight supper or a catch up with friends.

Pizzas are cooked to order in a matter of moments and showcase the best of Italian flavours, as well as some more unexpected and seasonal ingredients. Wild garlic pesto was making a guest appearance this week! The bases are thin and crisp with a pleasant chewiness that is perfect for dipping into the house made sauces and with most pizzas under a tenner you certainly won’t be breaking the bank either!

All in all, it’s a perfect little slice of street food culture right on your door step.
