One of the joys of living in Jersey is the number of beachside restaurants and cafes where you can enjoy a delicious meal with a sea view. Mark Jordan’s establishment, a joint venture with the Michelin starred Atlantic Hotel, is a stone’s throw from the sea and if you can bag yourself one of the star tables you can watch the evening draw in across the bay as you eat; a pleasure all of its own.
Mark Jordan has been awarded with two AA rosettes and a Michelin bib gourmand and I would certainly agree that the venue is turning out some of the tastiest plates that we’ve yet had on the island. The potato gnocchi with wilted spinach, wild mushrooms and parmesan cream was my stand out dish of the day; soft pillows nestled in a wonderfully moorish sauce that I could have eaten for every course if I could have changed my order.
The main courses of beef short rib and cod fillet in a Thai style broth were equally well balanced and delivering all the flavours they promised, while the star dessert of salted caramel chocolate tart brought everything to a close with a well balanced sweetness. The ideal end to a relaxed, beachside feed that we’ll be returning for soon.
