It’s a miracle what a good makeover can do and the Liberation Group has allowed Cinderella to go to the ball with its expert remodel of this Friday night boozer. Gone are the sticky carpets and dark corners of old and in is the light airiness, copper and natural materials of the newly named Seaton Place Social.
Striking the balance between pub, bar and restaurant the Social offers something for everyone and the menu is striking in its focus on more adventurous plates and plenty of healthy (but still delicious) options. Small tapas style plates, filling salads and mains and a range of specials are sure to mean there’s something for everyone.
Service was a little haphazard and slow but always smiling; it will no doubt improve as the team bed in. As for the food, a Korean Chicken rice bowl gave lots of flavour but could have benefited by being more balanced with less salt and some fresh greens. A truly monstrous Fritto Misto platter gave a fantastic value stroll through the best of finger friendly fish dishes, albeit that the inclusion of tacos seemed unnecessary. Finally an Instagram worthy Halloumi salad ticked all the satisfying but healthy boxes.
It may not have been perfect but the Seaton Place Social offers a lot and is a great spot for some post work nibbles, a lunch or pre theatre dinner. With a menu offering something that little less familiar, great value and a beautiful interior the Social is definitely worth a visit.
